New cousin

Linden and Jemma have a new cousin named Chloë! They enjoyed seeing photos of her on the Queen of Sheeba blog (see link at right), and Linden kept saying "Jemma! Jemma!" when she saw pictures of her new cousin. We are all looking forward to meeting her in a few weeks.

Mid-April in Beaufort

This is Linden, who enjoyed wearing her Easter bunny suit for about 17 seconds - not quite long enough to get the camera out and ready for a photo.

Here, Jemma discovers the baby in the mirror, and giggles happily.

Linden needs a haircut and more sleep!

Jemma is pretty good at sitting up these days, and that helps her proficiency at piano.

The weather in NC is gorgeous right now: sunny, breezy, not too warm. This has meant lots of chances to take the girls outside and have fun. One thing that Linden has discovered is drawing on the sidewalk and steps with her chalk. Here she is with Lisa on a typically gorgeous afternoon in Beaufort:

In the case of Jemma, I have been bringing her with me on various work-related trips along the coast. Last week she came with me to Holden Beach, in the southern part of the state, and two weeks ago she came with me to get a small sea turtle ready for release offshore:

Too long between posts

I was waiting for MHG to post this, since running with babes is his thing, but it's been too long since a post and this one is ready and waiting to go. Jemma's first run was cry free...

Proof!

Here is dramatic photographic proof that Linden and Jemma look alike. Each was photographed around the same age, in the same position (sleeping). Linden was sleeping soundly in Paris after a long flight across the Atlantic at a little over four months of age. Jemma , not quite five months old, was sleeping on Lisa's lap after a long day that included a stuffed-up nose. Sure, they aren't quite twins, but they do look alike.

Just after her 4 month check-up, Jemma managed to sit without support. She is supposed to be tri-poding, but her belly gets in the way of her hands....

These days, the girls are all about each other. Here they share a chair and a kiss, and Linden introduces Jemma to one of her favorite games: empty mommy's wallet.

Jemma ate her first small bowl of rice cereal yesterday! Of course, Linden wanted to be part of the action, so the last few bites were administered by the big, helpful sister.



Of course, that means that Linden tried to feed Jemma other things, including chocolate brownie. Aren't older sisters nice?
