Overdue update - random summer

All of my blogging friends appear to be on vacation; no updates, not even on Auntie Linda's new house! So, to try and motivate everyone, I'm posting some random shots of the girls, enjoying various aspects of summer.

Camping

Testing. Testing. Testing. One-two-three. Ok, let's see if camping works....









Yes, we were successful with car-camping, together with Chris, Larisa and the twins Kai and Lukas (and their two dogs). Maybe we can try barrier island camping next.

Berry season

May is strawberry season in Carteret County, and we made our annual pilgrimage to Garner Farms in Newport, NC. It is one of the few times that Linden will eat strawberries (she prefers raspberries). Jemma, however, will eat strawberries just about anytime.

Knock-out

Poor Jemma: she has 6 or 8 sutures in her eyebrow. No, she wasn't elbowed at the hockey rink nor did she take a "clothesline" from Linden during their regular wrestling events.



Nor was it the case that Janet accidentally punched her (despite the photo below):

Rather, she slipped when getting out of the tub and hit her head on the toilet. The amazing part was that within minutes of getting in the car, after the visit to the clinic, Jemma announced: I want to go to the Doctor's A-GAN!

Cousins

Time flies when you are having fun (or when things are busy). Cousins Chloe and Tavia visited in early April, accompanied by Uncle Scott and Aunt Janet. It appears that we abandoned our camera during most of the visit, but here are some pix of an afternoon outside, when it wasn't raining.

More daycare photos

It's almost a racket, the way photographers come in and shoot photos of kids at daycare, then hound parents to purchase the photos. Anyway, these are pretty funny, and I am sure the girls had a blast getting dressed up.

Gifts!

Nothing is more exciting than a box of presents from the Rhode Island grandparents, except perhaps a box of presents that includes dresses!

They both went for the white wool dress, although the scuffle didn't last long, thanks to other new clothes to look at!

Haircut!

The proprietor of Kid's Cuts in New Bern, NC thinks I am crazy for driving 45 minutes from Beaufort just so the girls can get haircuts. I don't think she realizes how much easier it is for me when I don't have to have them on my lap while they squirm and cry during the cut. This time, Jemma, who is at a rather difficult stage, even said she wanted another haircut when she was finished.

Puzzles

The girls sure love to do jigsaw puzzles....

Pink towel, pink socks, pink bear

Jemma has entered the Pink zone these days. Not only does she still ask each morning if it is her turn for the pink towel, but she now wants the pink socks, the pink bear and the pink mini-pillow at all times. The only time she mentions other colors is when we are in the car and she becomes intrigued by the traffic lights: "Red light! Stop! Green light! Go!"

As for Linden's obsessions, she still is into her princess dresses and dancing. She also has become a bit despondent about going to school, although she seems quite happy once she gets there and settles in. When asked if she wanted to change schools (to one just around the block from our house), she emphatically said NO.
