A rainy day finally past, we went to the beach in Emerald Isle around dusk to watch the volunteers excavate an old sea turtle nest (usually there are a few live hatchlings left that are fun to watch as they scramble down the sand to the sea). Despite Linden's obsession with herps (she spent countless hours poking frogs at the cottage's small pond), she is more attracted to the ocean these days. Here, we could barely keep her from diving in. We didn't have a change of clothes for her and were planning on taking her to dinner right after, hence the restraint from swimming. However, the next evening we went to a beach picnic with several other couples at Fort Macon state park, and Linden spent most of her time in the water.
